This project was a lot of fun – Mattel wanted animated map interstitials for their latest Barbie movie, Barbie and her Sisters in a Puppy Chase, which featured Barbie and her sisters adventuring across a tropical island.

We came up with the idea to do them in a pop-up style, and the Art Director and designers on the show provided painted textures to use. We built everything in Cinema 4D as flat pieces in 3D with some thickness, and animated, lit and composited all of the shots.

The team and Mattel liked how it turned out, so we decided to use the same look in the end credits as well.
